Mini Grant Application
The Schalmont Teachers’ Association and the Schalmont Central School District support programs which create an opportunity for innovation and renewal for individuals or groups of teachers. Innovative contributions of staff serve to assist us in achieving our primary mission, the development of improved learning conditions and outcomes.

FURTHER, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE SCHALMONT TEACHERS’ ASSOCIATION AND THE SCHALMONT CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT RECOGNIZE THE NEED TO:

1. Create innovative programs that strive to meet the NYS Standards and increase student performance and learning.

2. Build support for teachers and education by formally recognizing and encouraging individual expression and innovation as a true source of renewal for our instruction.

3. Share products of the IDEA Grants with staff and community as a demonstration of our shared values.

A joint committee consisting of two members of the administrative staff, one Board member and three teachers, will be responsible for establishing criteria for awarding grants, setting procedures for the administering of the program by the IDEA Grant Committee and recommending the funding levels for the Grant Awards.

IDEA GRANT AWARDS WILL BE AVAILABLE TO IMPLEMENT AND SUPPORT INITIATIVES SUCH AS:

a) Innovative approaches to learning which are new to the applicant.

b) Learning experiences that renew a professional thereby making him or her a better teacher.

c) Individual expression of educational expertise to enable others to replicate an innovative practice already in place.
