
Approved workshops and training to improve teaching skills in methods and
content will be given in service payment. Effective July 1, 2008, these class hours will be paid at the
rate of $32.44/class hour.
These workshops will be taken on a voluntary basis. All in service training, including those offered through STI, must receive prior approved by the Superintendent of Schools.

Further, your tuition/fee for an in-service course will be reimbursed to you by the District as per teacher contract.
Administrative Regulations/Procedures
- Courses offered by other school districts can qualify for in-service credit in Schalmont.
One must apply for approval prior to the first meeting of the course.
- At least one needs determination will be done annually. Other needs are determined by administrative initiative, faculty initiative and by teacher interest in presenting an in-service course.
- Criteria for approval of in-service payment must, in general, follow these guidelines:
- In-service courses shall be approved by the Superintendent of Schools prior to commencement of course.
- Approval will not be granted unless the course is related to the applicant's field of teaching or in a subject area that the applicant will be assigned to within the district in a subsequent year and taken outside the regular work day.
Procedures for processing approved in-service training courses after courses are completed:
- Successful course completion and classroom contact hours validated in writing by the instructor is required.
- All materials should be turned in to the Superintendent of Schools within thirty (30) days of course completion.
Workshops must be pre-approved and completion validation turned in to the Superintendent. Cost of the course will be reimbursed in accordance with Article VII, Section
4 of the teacher contract.
