The contract provides for an unpaid leave of absence for child rearing purposes. This leave would commence at the end of the paid disability period (as determined by your doctor after your post delivery check up.) The length of this leave is for a period up to one year from the end of the semester in which the leave of absence begins.
The Family and Medical Leave Act requires the District to continue contributing towards your health, vision and dental insurance for the first 12 weeks of your unpaid leave. You must inform the district of your desire to take advantage of this in your letter requesting an unpaid leave for child rearing purposes.
Form Letter 2
All leave of absences must terminate coinciding with the end of a quarterly marking period. Requests for extensions of a leave of absence will be granted at the sole discretion of the Superintendent of Schools. Teachers whose unpaid leave ends on June 30th of the school year are eligible to return to the health, dental, optical and life insurance plans effective July 1.
Please contact
Laura Hungershafer at the District Office prior to July 1 to inform her of your intentions regarding your health, dental, optical and life insurances.
